Golden September Wedding as a New Hampshire Wedding Photographer

Emma and Zander’s September wedding at Alyson’s Apple Orchard was one of those days that felt like pure sunshine—literally and emotionally. It was a warm, almost summer-like day, and the orchard was glowing under the golden heat. They chose to get married beside the pond, with wide-open mountain views stretching behind them, creating the most picturesque backdrop for a ceremony filled with laughter, happy tears, and the sweetest little glances they kept sneaking at each other.

One of the quirkiest—and most fun—parts of the day was the tractor and wagon rides around the orchard. Guests piled into wagons pulled by tractors, bouncing along apple trees and rolling hills, and the whole thing just added this perfect, relaxed New Hampshire charm to the celebration. I loved capturing those candid moments: kids giggling, couples holding hands, families swaying with the motion of the ride. Those are the kinds of in-between moments I live for.

After the ceremony, the energy shifted into full-on celebration mode. The dance floor came alive instantly—friends hyping each other up, parents spinning with their kids, and Emma and Zander completely lost in the joy of the moment. This is the part of the day when my candid, documentary-style approach shines. I want my couples to look back and see themselves exactly as they were: true to color, true to life, true to them.

Then came sunset—and it was one of those jaw-dropping New Hampshire skies you wish you could bottle up. Soft warm light settled over the orchard, and those few quiet minutes we spent taking sunset portraits ended up being some of my absolute favorites from the entire day. Emma and Zander were relaxed, glowing, soaking in their just-married bliss, and I focused on capturing their genuine connection and those beautiful in-between moments that happen when couples simply get to be themselves.

As a wedding photographer, that’s always my goal. I want my couples to trust me, lean on me, and feel like I’m just as invested in their story as they are. By the end of a wedding day, I hope to feel more like a friend than a vendor—and with Emma and Zander, that’s exactly what it felt like. Their day was heartfelt, effortless, candid, and full of real emotion, and I’m so grateful I got to document it in a way that felt truly authentic to them.
