A Coastal Summer Wedding at Union Bluff Hotel

There are some wedding days that just feel like summer in every possible way — warm ocean air, blue skies, hydrangeas everywhere you look, and a couple who is completely wrapped up in each other.

Audrey and Neico’s June wedding at the Union Bluff Hotel and Meetinghouse in York, Maine was exactly that.

Set along the coast in one of my favorite little corners of Maine, their day was filled with soft blue details, beautiful hydrangeas, and that unmistakable coastal New England feeling. It was also hot. Like, truly hot. But somehow, none of that mattered. The entire day felt so full of excitement, love, and anticipation that the heat became just another little piece of the story.

And Audrey? She was an absolute dream to photograph.

From the moment we started working together, she was the kind of bride every photographer hopes to have in front of their camera. She trusted me, was so easy to work with, and embraced every part of the day. She made the whole experience feel less like a vendor-client relationship and more like photographing a friend.

One wedding. Two perspectives.

One of my favorite parts of photographing Audrey and Neico’s wedding was having my second photographer alongside me.

I always tell my couples that having a second photographer isn't just about having more photos. It's about having another set of eyes on your wedding day.

There are moments happening all over a wedding that I simply can't physically be in the middle of.

While I'm photographing Audrey getting ready, my second photographer can be with Neico. While I'm focused on the bride walking down the aisle, they're watching the reactions of the people sitting behind me. While I'm directing portraits, they're looking for the little in-between moments happening just outside of my frame.

And one of my favorite things about working with a second photographer is seeing how differently we can photograph the exact same moment.

We'll be standing in the same room, watching the same thing happen, and somehow walk away with two completely different photographs.

One image might show the way I saw the moment — while the other captures an expression, a reaction, or a tiny detail that I never even noticed happening.

That's the beauty of having two photographers.

You're not just getting twice the coverage. You're getting two perspectives of your story.

And years from now, when you're looking back through your wedding gallery, those different perspectives are what help bring the entire day back to life.

A little bit of coastal Maine magic

York, Maine was such a fitting backdrop for Audrey and Neico's celebration.

Between the coastal scenery, the classic New England architecture of the Union Bluff Hotel and Meetinghouse, and the soft blue color palette, the entire day felt timeless without feeling overly traditional.

The hydrangeas were one of my favorite details — especially against all of the blue throughout the day. Everything felt cohesive, summery, and effortlessly coastal.

And then there was the weather.

June in Maine can give you pretty much anything, but Audrey and Neico got a very warm summer day. The kind of day where you can feel the heat in every photograph.

But honestly? I love that.

I don't want your wedding gallery to feel like it was photographed in a perfectly controlled studio. I want it to feel like your actual day.

The wind in your dress. The heat on your skin. The way your hair moved. The way your husband looked at you when you weren't paying attention. Your friends laughing during cocktail hour. Your family wiping away tears. The little moments between all of the big ones.

Those are the photographs that tell the story.

The moments in between

Of course, we took the beautiful portraits. We photographed the details. We captured the ceremony and all of the traditional moments you'd expect from a wedding day.

But some of my favorite photographs from Audrey and Neico's wedding are the ones that happened in between.

The looks.

The laughs.

The quiet moments.

The people they love most being completely themselves.

Those are the photographs I hope my couples hold onto the longest.

Because your wedding day isn't just one big moment. It's hundreds of tiny moments happening one after another, and you won't be able to see all of them while you're living through the day.
