Branding Sessions That Feel Like You

One of my favorite parts about offering branding sessions is getting to capture people exactly as they are — the personality, the passion, and the little details that make their business theirs. Recently I had the chance to photograph a branding session for an incredibly talented Maine hairstylist and it was the perfect example of how powerful a well planned branding shoot can be.

From the moment she arrived, it was clear she came prepared to tell her story. She brought four amazing outfits, each one representing a different side of her brand and personality. We had everything from chic stylist energy to relaxed, everyday confidence — which gave us so much variety in the final images.

But what really made this session stand out was the props and intentional details she incorporated. We used tools of her trade, styling elements, and pieces that reflected her work behind the chair. These small touches made the images feel authentic and true to her brand, rather than staged or generic.

Because branding sessions are designed to be more relaxed and creative, we had the time to really explore ideas. We experimented with poses, movement, and different setups that showcased both her professional expertise and her personal style. The result was a gallery that didn’t just show what she does — it showed who she is.

That’s the magic of a branding session.

It’s not just headshots. It’s about creating imagery that reflects your business, your personality, and the experience your clients can expect from you.

My approach to branding sessions is simple: you don’t have to fit into a box. I encourage my clients to bring outfit changes, meaningful props, and ideas that represent their brand. Whether you’re a hairstylist, small business owner, creative, or entrepreneur, your photos should feel like an extension of you.

When we lean into authenticity and creativity, the results are always so much more powerful.

If you’re building a personal brand and want photos that truly represent your business, a branding session might be exactly what you need. These sessions are designed to give you a versatile collection of images you can use across your website, social media, marketing, and beyond — all while capturing the personality behind your brand.
